My sister made me do it

A year ago, my sister, Katie, sent me a beautiful email (I saved it, in fact, and refer back to it from time-to-time) to tell me how much she admired me and my family. She also encouraged me to start a blog detailing my experiences as a parent of a special needs child. I had never thought much of blogs--actually thought they were rather egocentric--a bunch of self-important people given a platform to show the world how wonderful they are. And who was I, a middle aged (did I say that?) mother of two--who would care what I have to say anyway?

Well, here we are a year later and the idea has stayed with me. I have decided to take a swing at the ball--knowing that I may not get a hit, but willing to give it a try, nonetheless. I know I have lots to say, but does anyone really care to hear it?

Given this platform, I intend to share my thoughts on being a parent--not just a special needs parent. It's not always pretty, but there is always something to be learned from it. Please join me in this journey. I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I'm going to put myself out there and give it a try.
